The Dongria Kondh are endangered

The Dongria Kondh are endangeredWe have made a first small documentary to appear on the website. We have tried to briefly show the situation of the Kondh and the work we are dong togheter with them.

In the meantime the Kondh are facing extinction because of the plans for open cast mining in the area where the Kondh live. While protest is rising, Vedanta is claiming it will start mining soon.

That is why we also have collected movies from other organisations about the the struggle of the Kondh against vedanta mining companies.

Indigenous Seeds FestivalMany traditional seeds varieties are almost lost. Fortunately there are remarkable and positive community conservation initiatives like the Indigenous Seeds Festival. This colourful celebration was organised by Lok Vikash Sangathan, a local farmers' organisation and networking partner of Living Farms. We have made a report.

Rally against Bt Brinjal and Bt Cotton

Tomorrow (17.03.09), the United Coalition Against Genetic Engineering hold a protest rally against Bt Brinjal and Bt Cotton. The rally will start from Master Canteen at 9AM and proceed towards PMG square. It will be followed by a meeting. A delegation will also go to the Governor House to submit a petition. After a simple lunch in the rally site the congregation will disperse at around 2PM.
